Celestial events

Here are some celestial events as seen from Finland during coming next 10 years starting from 1.1.2015.

  • Partial Solar eclipse 20.3.2015 , positive observation from Kiiminki, Oulu, Finland. Clear sky, 1/8.
  • Total Lunar eclipse 28.9.2015, only a glimpse of the eclipse was seen because of persistent stratocumulus clouds, 8/8, observed in Turku, Finland
  • Transit of Mercury 9.5.2016, positive observation from Turku, Finland, clear sky (0/8) during the whole event
  • Penumbral Lunar eclipse 16.9.2016, positive observation from Turku, Finland, clear sky (1/8) during the whole event
  • Penumbral Lunar eclipse 11.2.2017 , negative observation from Turku, Finland, totally cloudy sky, 8/8 (from beginning of the eclipse until maximum eclipse, when I gave up observing)
  • Partial Lunar eclipse 7.8.2017 (only end of the eclipse visible, Moon altitude ~4 deg @ 4th contact, observing location: Turku)
  • Total Lunar eclipse 31.1.2018 (only end of the eclipse visible, Moon altitude ~3 deg @ 4th contact, observing location: Ulvila)
  • Total Lunar eclipse 27.7.2018 (almost whole eclipse visible (except the beginning of the penumbral eclipse) all of umbral eclipse visible, but Moon is at low altitude, Moon altitude @ maximum eclipse ~5 deg. Observing location, Turku)
  • Partial Solar eclipse 11.8.2018 (Sun at high altitudem but only very small eclipse, @ maximum eclipse eclipse magnitude 8%, observing location: Turku)
  • Total Lunar eclipse 21.1.2019 (almost whole eclipse visible (except the very end of penumbral eclipse, all of umbral eclipse visible, Moon altitude @ maximum eclipse ~13 deg. Observing location: Ulvila)
  • Partial Lunar eclipse 17.7.2019 (almost whole eclipse visible (except the beginning of the penumbral eclipse) all of umbral eclipse visible, but Moon is at low altitude, Moon altitude @ maximum eclipse ~6 deg. Observing location, Turku)
  • Transit of Mercury 11.11.2019 (only the very beginning of transit is visible, but Sun is at low altitude, altitude at beginning of transit ~7 deg, Sun set after ~ 1,5 hours after the beginning of the transit, Observing location, Turku?)
  • Penumbral Lunar eclipse 10.1.2020
  • Penumbral Lunar eclipse 5.6.2020
  • Penumbral Lunar eclipse 30.11.2020 (Utsjoki, Moon at very low altitude)
  • Partial Solar eclipse 10.6.2021
